ways to show your dad you care

Father’s Day is coming up, and you might be wracking your brain to figure out some good gift ideas. Sure, you can always give your dad the usual greeting card and neck tie. But maybe you’re looking for something a little bit more unique this year. Maybe you are brainstorming some ways to show your dad you care.

At Freedom Air and Heat, we believe in supporting great parents everywhere. We put our heads together and came up with some ideas that will help you surprise your dad this Father’s Day. Here are 3 ways to show your dad you care.

1. Create a relaxation station.

Transform your dad’s home into his relaxation station! Dad works hard, so let him put up his feet and take a break while you take care of some of the household chores.

Pick up loose items around the house like trash, laundry, and toys. Vacuum the whole house to keep the floors clean and remove unwanted dust particles. If you vacuum furniture and bedding too, it will work wonders for your indoor air quality. Wipe down the sinks and showers, and clean the toilets. While you’re working, don’t forget to change your HVAC air filter too!

Once the house is clean, let your dad take the weekend off and stretch out on a couch or recliner with some snacks. Having the chance to relax might mean more to a hardworking dad than any physical present.

2. Throw a backyard bash.

If your dad would rather be catching up with his friends and family and grilling burgers outdoors than spend some alone-time on the couch, throw him a “dad appreciation party!”

Stock up on his favorite foods, invite his buddies and nearby family, and bring him outside for the ultimate surprise. If you need to cool down from the summer sun while you’re outside without AC, indulge in frozen treats like popsicles or ice cream in your dad’s favorite flavor. Splash in the pool if you have one, or splash in a sprinkler system or slip n’ slide if you don’t. Keep fans blowing near the house so that guests can take a break and cool off when needed.

3. Invest in quality time.

If a huge social gathering is not your dad’s style, but he doesn’t want to kick back in a recliner either, invest in some quality time doing one of his favorite activities. This is one of our favorite ways to show your dad you care.

If your dad is outdoorsy, plan a Father’s Day weekend hike or camping trip. If he’s a thrill seeker, head to the nearest amusement park and ride some rollercoasters. If he loves the movies, treat him to some tickets to the flick of his choice. If food is his love language, take him out for a nice dinner. No matter what activity you chose, your dad will appreciate your genuine interest in spending time with him.

Finding the perfect Father’s Day gift can be tricky. We hope this list of ways to show your dad you care helps you to get creative and start brainstorming. We want to wish a very Happy Father’s Day to dads everywhere from your friends at Freedom Air and Heat!
